I don’t really want to go on record stating that Hazim was right, but he was right when he decided that Europe was a crap option for a winter honeymoon (even though Italy was my dream) and somehow surprised me with a super relaxing 4-day trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Coming off the the chaos that is a big fat Indian wedding, we desperately needed a nice relaxing break to do nothing. And that’s what we literally did.
Stay: I highly highly recommend Sanctuary Cap Cana. It’s an all-inclusive, luxurious, adult-only resort that has some of the best resort food around. The service was impeccable and they even upgraded us to a private villa with our own driver and butler. Our private villa was literally on the ocean and the view from our bedroom was stuff you see in movies.
Transportation: We literally didn’t leave the resort, except for when we went snorkeling which a shuttle was provided by the resort.
Shop: The locals will tell you there not much by way of shopping, but you might consider a trek into town!
Eat: Normally resort food tastes like booty but Sanctuary Cap Cana was actually really good. They have some great restaurants on location with Asian food, Hibachi, a steak house, Italian food, unlimited room service, etc.
Visit: Definitely try one of the fun excursions, we really enjoyed snorkeling. And if you stay at Sanctuary, you cannot pass on the spa. After the wedding, all i wanted was a massage and their facilities, bath & steam areas, as well as the salon are super nice (but pricey).
Tips: End of November, the weather was great. Occasional rain, but like most tropical places the rain comes and goes so it doesn’t really spoil your plans much. Enjoy the great weather and views!
