Devī (Sanskrit: देवी) is the Sanskrit word for “goddess”

We hear a lot about supporting and empowering women, but celebrating others begins with celebrating yourself. I learned this from my grandmother who taught me the importance of self love. My Naani is the quintessential matriarch who does not sit for a second and is constantly worrying about her family. Her energy and resilience is truly inspiring, but what I love most is that she always makes time for herself in the subtlest ways — freshly painted nails, hair pulled back, little glimmers of gold jewelry, dressed in perfect pastels — Naani exudes elegance while remaining the fierce woman that she is. In a culture where women were expected to devote themselves entirely to their family, she showed me that it is possible, if not necessary, to put yourself first in order to better support those around you. You have to feel good about yourself, about who you are and what you can do. One of the ways you do this is by designating time for self-enrichment, whether that’s in the form of beauty, fashion, hobbies, intellectual pursuits, or even traveling. Do what makes you better and don’t let yourself go.

My style empowers me and provides a medium through which I can express myself creatively. I genuinely believe style is an intrinsic part of identity, a belief I share with HoliChic by Megha. We have worked with so many brands here at D[I] but it has been awhile since I’ve been this passionate about a collaboration.
